Jamaican International Shamar “bowza” Nicholson may have to wait at least another season before realizing his dreams of playing in European Champions league as the Belgian Jupiler Pro league season is set be canceled.
However all will not be lost for the lanky 23 year old Jamaican who will grace the second tier Europa League next season.
The League’s Board of directors voted today to cancel the rest of the season owing to the global spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, and that recommendation is likely to be ratfied by a general assembly on April 15.
That decision will see Club Brugge who are 15 points clear of Gent being declared champions with Nicholson’s team Charleroi third.
Nicholson explained to Nationwide Sports today how he felt when the news came through to the club.
The former Boys Town star joined Charleroi last August and quickly became a fan favourite scoring 9 goals from nine starts, he grades his first season as a little more than average and now intends to use the long break to get ready for next season.
Nicholson says he is looking forward to come back to Jamaica because it’s not easy sitting around with no football
