Two rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are this morning in hospital suffering from gunshot wounds after they were attacked by gunmen on Constant Road in St. Andrew.
The two Constables were on patrol duties at about 1:30 this morning when the incident happened.
Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communication’s Unit, CCU, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says the policemen were fired upon when they approached a vehicle that was parked along the road with two men inside.
The injuries of the two Constables are serious but not considered life threatening.
SSP Lindsay says the other gunman is now in police custody.
She says he was identified as the other suspect after he showed to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, SSP Lindsay says the scene is still being processed.
The shooting of the two Constables follows the recent fatal attack on three members of the Force recently in Horizon Park, St. Catherine.
Constable Decardo Hylton and Detective Corporal Dane Biggs were killed on the spot.
Superintendent Leon Clunis later died on the day he was to be discharged from hospital.
SSP Lindsay is appealing to persons to desist from attacking the Police.
