L-R: Dr. Dayton Campbell, General Secretary of the PNP; Peter Bunting, Opposition Business in the Senate & Spokesman on National Security; Senator Damion Crawford, PNP Spokesman on Education.

Nationwide News understands three of the most prominent names in the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, have been recommended to be parliamentary candidates for seats in St. Catherine, Manchester and Westmoreland.

The party’s firebrand General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, is set to challenge the JLP’s Daniel Lawrence for P.J. Patterson’s old seat, Eastern Westmoreland. Campbell last contested the polls in North West St. Ann in 2020, where he was defeated by the JLP’s Krystal Lee.

The party’s Spokesman on National Security and Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate, Peter Bunting, will shift south in Manchester to contest Southern Manchester against the JLP incumbent, Robert Chin. Bunting was defeated by the JLP’s Rhoda Moy Crawford in Central Manchester at the 2020 General Elections.

Nationwide sources say the party’s Spokesman on Education, Senator Damion Crawford, is set to replace Hugh Graham in Robert Pickersgill’s old seat of North West St. Catherine.

Our sources say the recommendations are to be put to the party’s second highest decision making body, the National Executive Council, for ratification.

Repeated efforts to reach the party’s General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, for comment proved unsuccessful.
