Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, is reiterating that businesses with employees who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 do not need to shut down.

Citing guidelines from the World Health Organization, Dr. Tufton says it would be counterproductive to stop business, now that Jamaica is experiencing community spread.

He’s instead encouraging businesses to send home those who are positive and clean the facilities more frequently.

Dr. Tufton says even though customers may be concerned, businesses should just continue to observe the protocols.

Meanwhile, the Health and Wellness Minister is encouraging businesses to do a health assessment of employees.

He says this would be useful to determine who is vulnerable.
