Co-Chair of the Economic Programme Oversight Committee, EPOC, Richard Byles, says its not only government bureaucracy that’s holding back Jamaica’s economy but also the refusal of the private sector to change its mode of operation.
Mr. Byles made the comment while speaking at EPOC’s Monthly Press Briefing in New Kingston Yesterday.
He says only 30-percent of the country’s GDP comes from the real sectors of the economy while the remaining 70 percent comes from the distribution and sale of imports.
The EPOC Co-Chair says it’s time for the private sector to change the way they operate in light of the new opportunities that now exists.
