Transport Minister, Mike Henry, says Cabinet will review the proposed toll rates for the new North-South Highway.
The Toll Authority published the proposed rates yesterday, with fees ranging from $1,220 for Class 1 vehicles, to as high as $3,700 for Class 3 vehicles traveling one way from Caymanas to Ocho Rios.
There’s outcry against the proposed fees. The public has until Monday to register their concerns in writing.
Minister Henry says he’s concerned about motorists choosing not to use the highway because of the high cost.
However, he says planned developments along the highway should lead to increased traffic on the new road.
