Member of Parliament for East Westmoreland, Dr Dayton Campbell, is chiding the Education Ministry for its decision to close Cairn Curran Primary and Chantilly Primary in the constituency.
He says the schools were closed without consultation with him or parents.
Dr Dayton Campbell, Member of Parliament for East Westmoreland.
He was speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday during the State of the Constituency Debate. Both schools were among several badly damaged by Hurricane Melissa in October 2025.
Last month, principal of Cairn Curran Primary, Dianne Wright-Tomlinson, told our news centre that she first learned about the closure through the media.
At the time, she said parents had already begun purchasing uniforms and supplies when the Ministry dispatched the official notice in late August.
