The Barbados-based Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum is warning that heat-waves could peak across the Caribbean in August.

In their August newsletter released today, the Forum says the heat waves are expected as Saharan dust is expected to blow this way.

Meanwhile, the Forum says the peak of the Caribbean wet season may be wetter than usual in the eastern Caribbean, but drier than usual elsewhere.

A drought is expected to continue across sections of the Caribbean as a weak El Nino persists across the region.

The Forum says more wet spells are expected throughout the region. But the Forum says there possibly could be fewer wet spells than in most wet seasons.

The newsletter says these spells may bring some drought relief, but there are also concerns of flooding.
