The 2020 staging of the Carifta Junior Track and Field Champions scheduled for Bermuda has been postponed until further notice because of the threat of Coronavirus.
The decision was announced yesterday and is said to be a mutual agreement between the region’s governing body for track and field NACAC and the Bermudan National Athletics Association.
Mike Sands the new NACAC president says the body will work in collaboration with the Bermudan Federation and will monitor all future developments with the view of having the games back on the calendar at the earliest possible date shortly after an all-clear is given to resume normalcy.
President of the JAAA’s Dr.Warren Blake told Nationwide Sports that Jamaica will be sending a team to the games once a new date is set and things are back to normal.
Having said that, Blake cautions that even if the Bermudans get the games back on this year, they may not want to accommodate Jamaica depending of the nature of the spread of the virus in Jamaica.
