The trial of dancehall entertainer, Chronic Law, has been delayed at his request.

The entertainer, whose given name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, was set to go on trial on October 26.

However, his attorney Ana Davide, wrote to the court on Friday requesting his trial and September 30 pre-trial hearing be delayed until the next available term in December or January.

Davide was scheduled to receive discovery material from prosecutors on Friday.

She argues that she’ll need additional time to review discovery, draft appropriate motions and prepare for trial, prompting the request for a continuance.

Opposing counsel, Assistant United States Attorney Shiante McMahon, didn’t oppose the motion.

The court says it will issue a new trial date.

Chronic Law is being held on pretrial detention after pleading not guilty to being to being in possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The Law Boss was denied bail in July and again in August after prosecutors successfully argued he’s a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Chronic Law was arrested in Georgia on November 15 last year on a speeding violation.

It was later revealed that four guns and a total of 92 rounds of ammunition and five magazines were found in the car. One of the guns was reported stolen in Florida.

Prior to the federal gun case, the traffic stop also prompted immigration officials to pursue removal proceedings against the deejay after his O-1B visa allowing him to live and work in the US was revoked.

Chronic Law survived the removal hearing.
