Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, PSOJ Dennis Chung, is again criticizing the Government’s decision to increase the income tax for persons who earn $6-million or more annually.

Mr. Chung says the move is a step in the wrong direction.

However – Mr. Chung says the Government’s decision to pursue indirect taxation measures as opposed to direct taxation is a step in the right direction.

Mr. Chung says there may be an absence of political will to institute the necessary comprehensive reforms to the tax system.
