Minister of Finance, Dr. Nigel Clarke, says trade in Jamaica has contributed to over 80 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product, GDP.
Dr. Clarke was speaking at the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, JCC’s, annual customs seminar on Thursday.
According to the finance minister, the government is working to upgrade the procedures at the Jamaica Customs Agency in an effort to improve its efficiency.
He added that border operations must be improved to increase Jamaica’s economic growth.
