A group calling itself, ‘Comrades for Change’, is demanding the removal of Western Hanover MP, the PNP’s Ian Hayles.
In a statement to the media today the group says Mr. Hayles has been a divisive leader, who has alienated a vast majority of comrades, party workers, business persons and young people.
The comrades say several issues remain unresolved since 2007.
They also say that PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill and Deputy General Secretary Luther Buchanan met with at Ruseas High School some years ago in an attempt to resolve the issues.
They say since the election of Mr. Hayles in 2007, things have taken a turn for the worse.
The group is alleging that transparency is lacking in the management of the constituency and that there’s no credible party executive that the MP reports to.
The comrades have also accused Mr. Hayles of being very deceptive, saying he finds it difficult to speak the truth.
According to the comrades, based on Mr. Hayles’ conduct, Western Hanover can no longer be considered a safe PNP seat.
The PNP General Secretary, Paul Burke says he finds the concerns surprising.
Mr. Burke says Mr. Hayles has the support of an overwhelming number of comrades in the constituency.
Efforts to contact Mr. Hayles were unsuccessful as several calls to his mobile phone rang to voicemail.
