Concern’s growing after police released a fifty-one-year-old man accused of sexually molesting his nine-year-old daughter.
The man was arrested last week after relatives reported him to the police.
The child who lives with her mother in Kingston spends holidays and weekends with her father at his family’s house.
Relatives say the abuse affected her grades and left her with a sexually transmitted infection.
Stevian Simmonds has more in this report.
The child’s aunt says her niece was being molested since January 2019.
A visit to the doctor on Friday revealed the child had the infection.
The little girl told her aunt the first time he molested her she called the police to report it.
But this isn’t the first time her brother’s been accused of sexually assaulting a child.
She says the police called on Monday enquiring whether he could return to the house.
But she says she’s sent her niece back to her mother as she feared for the child’s safety.
Meanwhile, the child’s mother says she was not aware of the sexual abuse.
But she admits he was physically abusive of her prior to their break up.
It’s understood the man is to appear in court next Friday in relation to the allegations.
Calls to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA this week went unanswered.
Efforts to contact Head of CISOCA, Superintendent Charmaine Shand were also unsuccessful.
