A police Corporal has been arrested by the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.
MOCA says the 38 year old Corporal — who’s not been named — solicited and accepted money from a visitor to the island to help find a missing person.
According to MOCA, the visitor made the missing person’s report at the Rockfort Police Station on Saturday.
He returned the following day for an update, at which time, according to the allegations, the Corporal requested and accepted $14,000 to locate the missing person.
MOCA says the man went back on Monday when, it’s also alleged, the Corporal solicited an additional 15-thousand dollars.
A report was made to MOCA and a sting operation conducted, where the accused Corporal was searched and the money found on his person.
He was placed in custody pending further investigations.
