The Police say they’re making progress in dismantling the murderous Spanish Town-based Klansman gang.
The Constabulary’s Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC) says 32 members have been arrested since it started investigating the gang in 2015.
Head of CTOC, Assistant Commissioner, Fitz Bailey, says the gang is linked to more than 20 of the 48 murders committed in St. Catherine North, so far this year.
ACP Bailey says the leader of one of the factions of the gang, Andre Bryan, also called ‘Blackman’ and several members of his family were arrested earlier this month. He says they’ve all been charged for breaches of the anti-gang legislation.
He says the gang rakes in over one million dollars a week in extortion.
ACP Bailey says investigators are examining the financial assets of the gang and probing whether others facilitated the gang’s activities.
The CTOC boss, says Tesha Miller is the leader of the other faction of the gang.
The police arrested Miller last year and held him in custody for nearly ten days before charging him with making a false declaration. That was in relation to using fake names to leave the island.
ACP Bailey says while Miller is the leader of the Klansman gang, he’s not wanted by the police.
