The St Andrew South Police have removed three more illegal guns and several rounds of ammunition from the nation’s streets.

The seizure followed a series of joint police-military operations in the division on Labour Day.

Divisional Commander Supt. Gary Francis told Nationwide news about the seizures within the last few hours.

Supt. Francis says three separate security operations were carried out in the gritty division.

The first operation was reportedly carried out at 6:30 pm in the union gardens area where a Ruger 9mm pistol with 15 rounds were seized.

Hours later about 10:30 pm another operation was carried out in the Whitfield Town area where a Smith and Wesson revolver with 3 rounds seized.

Then at 11: 30 pm in the Payne Avenue area, a Taurus 9mm pistol and 5 rounds were seized.

No one was arrested in connection with the three incidents.

Wednesday’s seizure brings to 27 the number of illegal guns confiscated by the police and 350 rounds of ammunition seized since the start of the year.

The Supt who is in his first month in the St Andrew South division lauded his team of officers for the successes this month among them a number of arrests.
