Dr. Copeland says last year there were hundreds of cases. The disease mostly affects children under 5-years-old.
Dr. Copeland says the Ministry will be visiting infant schools as part of its efforts to inform administrators about the disease.
She’s urging parents to keep children with the disease at home for at least seven days.
The Health Ministry is also urging school administrators to report any case of the illness.
It says school administrators should also request help from the Health Departments in their parishes, if they believe they may have a case in their school.
Meanwhile, Dr. Copeland is advising parents of other steps to take when dealing with the disease.
