Councillor for the Maxfield Park division, Dennis Gordon, says he’s demanding 2 per cent of central government’s $1.3 trillion dollar budget for the fiscal year be made available to local government representatives.
Councillor Gordon made the call at a townhall by the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation on Thursday night.
He says the cut would see local government receiving $28 billion to undertake necessary projects.
Mr. Gordon says the amount of money each councillor now gets is inadequate to cater to the needs in the divisions.
