Political Economist, Dr. John Rapley says Jamaica is in a position to take advantage of the global economic shifts that are coming as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Professor Rapley, says the traditional models which saw western nations driving world growth will most likely change.

Dr. Rapley was speaking yesterday with Nationwide News.

He says the western developed nations overwhelmingly have failed to properly manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

He says Jamaica’s ability to manage the pandemic has put it in an enviable position to respond to the change in dynamic.

However, he says Jamaica’s island status can be a double edged sword if proper protocols are not put in place.
