The number of Covid-19 cases recorded in a single day in Jamaica has once again soared to its highest since the onset of theCovid-19 pandemic in March 2020.

The country hit another record high in the number of cases in the health ministry’s latest update.

The number of positiveCovid-1919 cases recorded within the last 24 hours is 1,269. It follows the testing of 2,300 samples. On Wednesday, the country had 1,128 new cases, making it the second highest number of single day cases recorded.

The total number ofCovid-19 cases now stands at 99,463. The latest positivity rate is 45.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, three additional fatalities have also been recorded. The deceased are from St. Elizabeth and Kingston and St. Andrew. They bring the total number of recorded deaths to 2,489. 

Meanwhile, there were 77 new recoveries recorded in the update. This brings the total number of recoveries to 66,313. Two hundred and 19 persons are hospitalised with 42 being moderately ill, 22 are severely ill, and four are considered critical.
