Jamaica’s Covd-19 positivity rate is now bordering on 40 per cent.

The Ministry of Health has reported a positivity rate of 38.2 per cent in its latest update. The positivity rate follows the confirmation of 174 new cases.

The cases are from 2,307 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases are 139,203. Majority of the new cases are from St. James with 54, while Kingston and St. Andrew follow with 33.

Two new deaths were recorded. More than 3,000 people in Jamaica have died of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 101 recoveries in the update.

One hundred and twenty-five people are hospitalised with Covid. Thiry-six are moderately ill, seven are severely ill, while three are critical. Eighty-three per cent of those hospitalised are unvaccinated.

Just over 97 per cent of those who’ve died of Covid-19 were also unvaccinated.
