Jamaica’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now bordering on 40 per cent. The Ministry of Health has reported a positivity rate of 37.9 per cent in its latest update.
The positivity rate follows the confirmation of 366 new cases from the 2,688 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of positive cases recorded since the start of the pandemic to 133,904.
Ninety-four of the new positives are from St. James, 82 new cases in Kingston and St. Andrew and 61 in St. Ann. Three new deaths have been recorded. More than 3,000 people have died in Jamaica from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
There were 115 recoveries reported in the update. Seventy-four people are hospitalised with Covid, 17 are moderately ill, two are severely ill, while one case is considered critical.
Just over 74 per cent of those who are hospitalised are unvaccinated. The number of vaccinated patients who are hospitalised has increased to 22.5 per cent.
