Jamaica’s COVID-19 positivity rate is now bordering on 40%.

The Ministry of Health has reported a positivity rate of 38.2 per cent in its latest update.

The positivity rate follows the confirmation of 174 new cases.

The cases are from 2-thousand 3-hundred and 7 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The total number of positive cases are 1-hundred and 3923.

Majority of the new cases are from St. James at 54 while Kingston and St. Andrew followed with 33.

2 new deaths were recorded.

More than 3000 have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 101 recoveries in the update.

One hundred and 25 people are hospitalised with COVID.

36 are moderately ill, 7 are severely ill, while 3 are critical.

83% of those hospitalised are unvaccinated.

Just over 97% of people who died of COVID-19 are also unvaccinated.
