Senior Cabinet Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says the COVID-19 pandemic has put Jamaica’s economy at risk, which is why over the next few weeks, the Government will be focused on making moves to re-open crucial sectors.

But, he says a number of the protocols intended to limit the spread of the coronavirus will have to remain in place.

Minister Chang says Jamaica is not yet out the woods as far as the COVID-19 pandemic is concerned.

But, he says the work of professionals in the health sector has been encouraging.

He was addressing a media conference in Falmouth recently.

Minister Chang, says the Government is seeking to maintain contact with Jamaicans in 88 countries to determine which group to give priority under the controlled re-entry programme.
He says the Government remains in contact with several additional cruise lines with Jamaicans aboard.

Dr. Chang says the Government is also intensifying efforts to protect the elderly who’re among groups most vulnerable to Covid- 19.
