Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, says the cruise shipping industry will be back on track by December with a projection of just under 300-thousand cruise passengers by the end of the year.

The industry which was halted for the past 17 months, saw its return on Monday with the arrival of the Carnival Sunrise at the Ocho Rios Cruise Shipping Port.

Speaking with our News Center, Minister Bartlett lauded the outcome of the cruise ship’s return.

The Tourism Minister says the industry is expected to see about 46 rotations in total by the end of October in St. Ann, Falmouth, and Montego Bay.

And, Minister Bartlett says the uproar from taxi operators who were prevented from picking up passengers was unfortunate.

He says the decision was made based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC.
