A wheelchair-bound student, who attends the Belair High School in Mandeville, Manchester, is hailing the government’s rural school bus programme as a life changer.
The student, Anissa Allen, who boarded the disabled-friendly bus on Friday, says she finally felt secure and included during the ride.
The rural school bus programme is set to roll out across several parishes come September.
The long-awaited programme forms part of the government’s plan to provide safe and affordable transportation for students across rural parishes.
Young Anissa detailed the difficulty of travelling to and from school using public transportation due to her wheelchair.
She says at times, she had to miss out on classes.
