People’s National Party, PNP, caretaker for South East St. Catherine, Dr. Alfred Dawes, is warning against what he describes as creeping fascism in Jamaica.

Fascism is defined as a centralised autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader.

Fascist countries are often defined by severe economic challenges and forcible suppression of political opposition.

Dr. Dawes, a medical doctor, made the comment while addressing party faithful in East Central St. Andrew on Sunday.

Dr. Dawes, who is seeking to unseat the JLP’s Robert Miller in South East St. Catherine, has accused the government of putting its interests above those of the Jamaican people.

He says the next General Election will be crucial to determining the country’s future.
