The driver of a garbage truck which was involved in the accident that claimed the life of Clan Carthy student, Benjamin Bair is now in police custody.

The seven-year-old student died tragically on the grounds of the school on Monday, October 28.

Reports are, a privately contracted truck was picking up garbage at the school when the operators lost control of the vehicle.

The unmanned truck then hit the 7-year old.

However, the operators of the vehicle were not at the scene when the police arrived.

Reports from the Elletson Road Police are that on Friday November 1, about 6:30 p.m., the suspect who initially fled the scene of the accident turned himself into the Police.

His identity is being withheld to facilitate the investigation process.

In the meantime…Senators, at the prompting of President, Tom Tavares Finson, commiserated with the family of 7-year-old student Benjamin Bair during Friday’s sitting of the Upper House.

Benjamin died in a freak accident last week at the Clan Carthy Primary school.
