The Education Ministry is to upgrade the security infrastructure at Eltham High School after thugs invaded the  St Catherine-based institution yesterday.

Acting Chief Education Officer, Dr Kasan Troupe, says the incident happened after two students engaged in a fight at the school.

The men used a breach in the institution’s perimeter fence, to enter the school.

Dr Troupe says the student who brought the men to the school was later handed over to the police for questioning.

Teachers at the school were restive following the incident, and reportedly engaged in a brief industrial action.

Dr Troupe says the Ministry is procuring additional security resources for the institution.

She says the Ministry is to repair the perimeter fencing and will procure additional surveillance cameras.
