President of the People’s National Party, PNP, and Opposition Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips, says efforts were being made to force Former Contractor General, Dirk Harrison, out of office before his retirement from the Integrity Commission.

Mr. Harrison is Acting Head of the Integrity Commission’s Corruption Prosecution Division.

It’s understood that Mr. Harrison has submitted a letter to the Governor-General indicating his intent to proceed on early retirement.

His departure is to take effect on September 1.

Dr. Phillips says he’s very disappointed with the circumstances surrounding Mr. Harrison’s early retirement.

Dr. Phillips says Mr. Harrison’s imminent departure is a sign that all is not well at the Integrity Commission.

He says the Commission hasn’t distinguished itself in the execution of its mandate to tackle corruption in Jamaica.
