Foreign Affairs Minister, Kamina Johnson Smith, is commending the resilience of Jamaicans who are still in China during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She says 589 Jamaicans are registered across China.
28 of them in Wuhan, the city where the COVID-19 outbreak began.
Of this number, 260 are students, while 273 are workers and 56 are dependents.
She says the Ministry is not aware of any Jamaican who has contracted the virus overseas.
She says the Foreign Ministry is aware of about 14 nationals, including seven students, who’ve returned to the island.
Minister Johnson Smith is strongly advising the diaspora against non-essential travel.
