Controversial Westmoreland Central Member of Parliament, George Wright, is calling for the formalisation of informal settlements in his constituency.

Wright was making his maiden contribution to the State of the Constituency Debate in the House of Representatives.

The Westmoreland Central MP called on his colleague MPs to rid constituencies of squatters.

The embattled MP, who resigned as a member of the governing JLP earlier this year following backlash, rose to speak in parliament to cheers from several JLP legislators.

Wright is now an Independent MP.
