The President of Ghana, John Mahama, is in the island for a state visit.
President Mahama landed at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Sunday evening.
He was greeted by a delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith.
President Mahama then travelled to a reception in St. Andrew where he was received by State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator Abka Fitz-Henley, and members of the local Ghanaian community.
President Mahama is a special guest of the Government of Jamaica for the island’s emancipendence celebrations.
He’s to visit King’s House on Monday morning, where he will receive a ceremonial welcome.
President Mahama is then set to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness with the pair set to hold bilateral talks.
Both men are set to address the media.
Later on Monday, President Mahama will participate in a reparations dialogue at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, then visit Independence Village at the National Arena, where he’ll be received by Culture Minister Olivia Grange.
During his visit, President Mahama will attend a State Dinner at King’s House and is expected to address a special joint meeting of both Houses of Parliament on Tuesday.
