The Government is contemplating the reopening of community bars to allow some form of continued economic activity during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement last evening in the House of Representatives.

The Prime Minister says he has great sympathy for those who operate bars at this time due to the impact the COVID-19 measures have had on their livelihoods.

However, he says it will not be business as usual for bar operators.

He also says those who are serving must wear masks along with other COVID-19 mitigating measures.

Mr. Holness says the government is faced with the difficult task of maintaining public health concerns while allowing economic activity to continue.
