Minister with responsibility for Education, Karl Samuda, says the government is moving to immediately address water challenges in schools.
Some school administrators have raised concern about a water shortage, and say it’s impeding operations.
Minister Samuda says the government is surveying schools to determine needs.
His comment was a direct response to President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Owen Speid, who said even independent schools need help with addressing the water shortage.
He says rainwater harvesting plants should be established in schools.
