National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, is vowing that the government will not allow crime to spiral in St. James like it did two years ago when 335 people were murdered in the parish.

Dr. Chang made the comment while he addressed a JLP Area Council meeting in Mount Salem in the parish on the weekend.

The National Security Minister and JLP General Secretary also hit out at critics of the state of public emergency imposed in the parish.

Dr. Chang says some critics of the state of public emergency appear to be forgetting that there was mayhem in St. James before the implementation of the measure.

Dr. Chang says the government takes it seriously when the heads of the joint force recommend that a state of public emergency be implemented in an area of the island.

The National Security Minister says he’ll not interfere in the work of the Police.
