Opposition spokeswoman on Information and Culture Olivia Grange, is calling on the Prime Minister to press US President Barack Obama, to Pardon Marcus Garvey.
The National Hero was convicted for Mail Fraud in 1923 and deported to Jamaica.
The government has tried various channels over the years to get a pardon, including a request by the former Prime Minister Edward Seaga to Presdent Ronald Reagan when he visited Jamaica in 1982.
Miss Grange says President Obama’s visit is a great opportunity to put the issue back on the table.
The Information Minister Sandrea Falconer says the Prime Minister has the issue in mind.
