Chevon Campbell has that story.

Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives, Dr. Morais Guy, is accusing his government counterpart of bringing the Parliament into disrepute last week.

Opposition MPs are upset over comments made by Leader of Government Business in the House, Karl Samuda.

The comments sparked a heated exchange among members and a walkout by Opposition members.

However, despite stating they’d strongly protest his behaviour at today’s sitting of the House, tensions between them have subsided.

Dr. Guy strongly condemned the actions of his government counterpart.

He also chastised Speaker of the House, Pearnel Charles, for contributing to the chaos.

A row erupted last week when Opposition Spokesman on Education, Peter Bunting, took Minister Samuda to task, over the appointment of a new board at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

But, Mr Samuda refused to withdraw a comment which Mr Bunting felt was a breach of Parliament’s standing orders.

Dr. Guy previously told Nationwide News that the Opposition would protest strongly against his actions today.

However, Dr. Guy struck a far more conciliatory tone this afternoon.

While not apologizing for his actions, Mr. Samuda called on the House to move on in a positive way.
