The inmate, who stabbed the driver arrested in connection with the hit and run of a police inspector in Trelawny last Friday, has been charged.
He’s Noel Smith. He’s been charged with unlawful wounding and is expected to appear in court later this week.
He allegedly stabbed the hit-and-run driver on Sunday during a dispute. The driver was rushed to hospital with non life threatening wounds.
Inspector Mark Gibbs was hit by a car while conducting spot checks in front the Clark’s Town Police Station. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The driver had reportedly disobeyed instructions to stop. He turned himself over to police on Saturday.
He’s not yet been charged.
