The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has submitted the names of over 100 track and field athletes to the Ministry of Sports to benefit from the Athletes assistance programme.

The final submission was made yesterday as the Government gets ready to disburse a total of 11 million dollars into the accounts of athletes who were preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer under the new initiative launched in february where each athlete gets 20 thousand dollars weekly for 18 weeks.

However, since the announcement from the International Olympic committee that the Games have been postponed until next year, Minister Grange says the government will honor payment up until the end of March then do a review before deciding the way forward.

However Dr. Blake says the athletes need a more long term assistance
