Chairman of Parliament’s Internal and External Affairs Committee, Fitz Jackson, says government members on several parliamentary committees vote against issues they don’t want to be discussed.
Speaking on Cliff Hughes Online on Thursday morning, Mr. Jackson noted that the Opposition depends on the committees to address issues that are critical to nation-building.
He adds that government members on parliamentary committees have not been cooperating with proposals put forward by the chairman.
Mr. Jackson is urging the government not to discontinue the convention of having parliamentary committees chaired by Opposition MPs.
Mr Jackson is contending that government is taking deliberate actions to get its way.
According to Mr Jackson, the government is seeking to abuse its supermajority in the House of Representatives.
