A total of 25 Jamaican Red Poll cattle have been exported to the Cayman Islands to bolster the country’s livestock industry.

In a release yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, says the exportation of the animals is one of several arrangements, arising out of a Bilateral talk between the Government and its Cayman Islands counterpart.

The agreement seeks to enhance trade between the countries and strengthen regional partnerships.

The Agriculture Ministry says the 22 heifers and three bulls, which were sourced through the Cattle Breeders Society of Jamaica, departed the island from the Norman Manley International airport on Thursday.

It noted that the importation of improved cattle genetics to the Cayman Islands is not limited to live animals but semen and embryos as well.
