Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, says the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, has further revised down Jamaica’s economic forecast for the year to a decline between 9 and 10 per cent of GDP.
This is down from what was already expected to be one of the worst economic contractions in recent Jamaican history of 6%.
Dr. Clarke was speaking yesterday during the launch of the Jamaica Labour Party’s 2020 General Election Manifesto.
He says the dire economic news is further evidence that the country should remain under the JLP to ensure a quick and effective economic recovery.
The Finance Minister says significant gains were made under the JLP administration and only his government can maintain and strengthen those gains.
