The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says it has started an investigation into an altercation between a soldier and a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) at the Rose and Hannah Street vehicle checkpoint in Denham Town, St. Andrew on Sunday, March 5.

The altercation was captured on video, which has gone viral on social media.

In the video, a policeman was seen being shoved violently in the chest by a JDF soldier.

The policeman, dressed in blue denim uniform, is seen surrounded by at least seven armed JDF personnel in uniform.

One soldier shoves him in the chest at least two times, while another soldier berates him for apparently disobeying an order to stop at the roadblock.

The JDF says it wishes to assure the public that this is an isolated incident and the Force maintains a strong relationship with the JCF.

The JDF says it remains committed to supporting the JCF in securing and safeguarding Jamaica and Jamaicans.
