The Jamaica Public Service, JPS, says 77 per cent of customers who lost power due to Hurricane Beryl, had been reconnected to the power grid as of midnight on Sunday.
That’s five percent more than the figure reported for Saturday.
Speaking on Nationwide This Morning, Director of Corporate Communications at JPS, Winsome Callum says the figure represents 534,000 customers.
The 23 per cent of customers who remain without power are largely in the places where there were parish-wide blackouts; Westmoreland, Clarendon, St James, and St Elizabeth.
Ms Callum says restoration work is underway in all parishes except for St Elizabeth.
Meanwhile, Ms. Callum says once JPS work crews are done with their work in a particular location, they will then be sent to St. Elizabeth to assist with the massive restoration effort in that parish.
