The Jamaica Public Service, JPS, says up to late yesterday afternoon it had restored power to most of its customers who were affected by the inclement weather at the weekend.

The island was battered by heavy rains and winds associated with Zeta which is now a hurricane.

Director of Corporate Communications and Customer Experience at the JPS, Winsome Callum, said just under 10-thousand customers were without power up to 4 p.m. yesterday.

Ms. Callum says the light and power company’s restoration efforts have been hampered by challenges in accessing certain areas.

She says JPS hopes to restore power to most customers by yesterday evening.
