Labour and Social Security Minister Karl Samuda has resigned from the cabinet effective this Monday, May 22.

He reportedly made the announcement Friday night while speaking at an awards banquet at the Pegsus Hotel in New Kingston.

When contacted Saturday morning, Mr Samuda told Nationwide News that he had long ago indicated that he would serve for a specific period and he now feels that time is long past.

According to Mr Samuda, this is an opportunity to introduce new ideas to the ministry.
