Veteran pollster Bill Johnson says the PNP should not be perturbed about the plunging popularity of it’s leader, Portia Simpson Miller.

A Gleaner commissioned Bill Johnson Poll found that JLP Leader Andrew Holness was ahead of PNP President Portia Simpson Miller, in terms of who voters believe would do a better job as Prime Minister.

Mr. Johnson, who has been polling for 50 years, says in the Jamaican context, an unpopular leader can still lead a party to victory.

The Gleaner-Bill Johnson poll numbers show that Mr. Holness has a 39-percent favorability rating, compared to 29-percent for Mrs. Simpson Miller.

But Mr. Johnson says the PNP have no real cause for concern.
