For four days in November, Montego Bay will have a basketball extravaganza that it is hoped will bring loads of excitement for young men in the area.
High school boys from that area will have a chance, in a three on three format, to impress coaches from the NCAA Division One system. On Saturday, November 19, a rally is being held to have a glance at some of the playing skills of young men. The Inter Secondary School Sports Association (ISSA) and the Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA) have been tapped for partnerships.
This is year four of the Jamaica Basketball Classic, where eight teams play non-conference games in Montego Bay for the Jersey Mike Classic. With a five-year contract up to 2026, Jamaica is expected to expand the weekend to be “more inclusive.”
Georgetown University, lead by Jamaican-American head coach and former NBA star, Patrick Ewing will headline a list of eight division one basketball teams set to play in Montego Bay, Jamaica over the November 18 – 20 weekend.
